Making Jam

So after seeing Dianne create some old fashioned strawberry jam, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make some of my own. We went real old school though. We went out to a field and picked our own. We picked two one gallon buckets worth. Of course, Kerri forgot to charge the battery on the camera so while we were there, the camera did not work. Instead, we took pictures on our front porch swing where Maddox enjoyed his first ever strawberry.

Can you tell how much he absolutely loves it? He makes that faces every time he stuffs new food into his mouth. Lets hope he gets it under control by the time he is trying some of his mothers dinners. hahaha Just kidding. We all know it is me who makes dinner anyway.

A great picture of me stirring in all of the pectin, lemon juice, and whatever else I felt like strawberry jam should have in it. I call it jam surprise. When you come out to visit, your jam might have something you never expected to find in it, or even something you never thought was edible to begin with. hahaha

My beautiful wife crushing strawberries like a crazy person. She gave up shortly after this and I crushed while she stirred every 5 minutes. I am going to get it when she finds this particular picture posted on the blog.

And TADAAA! There you have it. Nine perfect jars of the greatest jam ever. Hopefully, Kerri, Maddox and I will be able to eat it all by next year so we can do it all over again.

I like that you mash strawberries and make the jam in middle of your living room. Did any of the cats try to climb up and lick the pot of jam?

No. I put them outside. It was easier to do it in their with Maddox sitting nearby.
