Part of a Balanced breakfast

There is just no better way to start your birthday than with a big slice of pound cake and 2% milk all before 9 am. I refuse to celebrate my birthday without pound cake.

You know what I bet would be good? French toast made with slices of pound cake. Now that's a Southern breakfast.

ohhhh...you should submit that to paula dean. i saw her make a casserole that consisted of layers of buttered white bread, ham, bacon, bananas, potato chips, cheese, cream and eggs. i am sure she would love the poundcake french toast idea.

Dianne, I can tell you haven't been in the South, to be true Southern breakfast there would need to be a side of grits and a fried pork product.

I had them once and thought they were disgusting. Then, Kerri's family told me I should try homemade grits and that these would be so much better. My second try confirmed my first; as a source of food, grits suck.

You guys are killing me! Homemade grits and a fried pork product? Last week I bought 1/2 a pig from a farmer and his wife was telling me how many ways I could use the protein packed head, hoof and other unmentionable portions of this pig. Oh and by the way 15 lbs of pig lard will stay good for quite some time if properly refrigerated. Happy birthday Ken, next year the fried pork product is on me.
