Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

I remember going here with Mom and Dad, so I'm thinking maybe all of us remember this.

The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is upstream on the Yellowstone River, past Hayden Valley if you're coming from the lake. There's two large waterfalls, Upper and Lower. It was a bit overcast and breezy that morning, hence the fleeces. The river leaves the road at this point, and you take these scenic turnoffs to access the trails to see the canyon. When you look at the falls, you're looking upstream back towards the main road.

Upper Falls:

To get an idea of the size of Upper Falls, look closely to the right side at the top of the falls, and you can see a couple people at a different vantage point. The red jacket makes it easier to pick out.

Lower Falls, as seen from a lookout called Artists Point.

those bottom two look like they are not even real. my memories of that place is really vague. It brings back memories of something I can almost remember but not quite. It doesnt make much sense but it is almost like a memory of a memory. What kind of camera did you take those pictures with? They are excellent pictures.

I was probably just old enough to remember it well.

We bought a little Sony a few months back. I'll put up the specs.

i remember hiking a long ass hike to get to a waterfall...and then, when we got there, dropping my walking stick i had spent so much time looking for over the edge by accident. and then being totally gutted by the fact i lost my precious stick!

"long ass hike"

That's funny. If you went back, it would seem like nothing. You were 4, so what you remember as a ling hike is probably half a mile.

I forgot how obsessed we were with hiking sticks on that trip. Once you mentioned that, I remember all of us always looking for a good stick.

I have so many memories of collecting sticks that I cant distinguish one from another. I remember some that we would look for when we hiked up to the waterfall at chantry flats. I remember the musuckers gordon caught at swan lake and then would squeeze the mouth and burp, making it look like the fish was talking.

squirt gave me gas like a bloated carcass. speaking of which, ice cream and blueberry pie. that was the best. Do you remember the big cow or bull carcass dad pulled over to look at. It was hugely bloated and everything.

Hahaha.

Those suckers were Swan Lake all right. I was catching those and squafish for dad to get the skeletons. I remember making them talk, that was awesome.

The good berry pie was Itasca. At Swan Lake is where we got that brownie recipe, and we fed those giant trout in the pond.

Sault Ste. Marie in Michigan is where Susan was drooling over that dude making fudge.

a dude making fudge. hahahaha I dont think he was interested in her. That blueberry pie and ice cream was at some cabin gift shop or something right on the lake.

Sault Ste Marie I remeber all the machines twisting the slat water taffy in the windows. Man that stuff was sick.

It might have had a gift shop, but I think it was also some kind of restaurant/lodge. It had this big view of the lake.

Itasca is also where we were catching those sunfish and yellow perch by the boatload with bait and bobbers.
