Old Faithful
Downstream from the bridge over the Firehole a few miles is Old Faithful. The pic of the river in the post below is looking upstream towards the Keppler Cascades, and fishing is allowed. Looking downstream from the bridge this is what the river looks like. You can see a marked increase in the frequency of the whitish hot spring deposits, hence this stretch being off limits to fishermen.
And here's the girls waiting for Old Faithful to do it's thing.
While we were waiting for Old Faithful to go, a smaller geyser along one of the trails went off in a fairly impressive display.
Finally, Old Faithful erupts and we can check that off the list.
Along the trails at the Old Faithful area, there's a number of other fairly large geysers, like Castle Geyser. Castle only goes like every 13-18 hours, so we didn't see it erupt.

what, you didnt wait around to see Castle Geyser? What the hell was the point of your trip then. hahaha
Ha. You laugh, but the girls thought we should see EVERY geyser erupt. We'd start to walk by, and they'd get pissed. "We didn't see it shoot water!" I had to convince them every time that we'd be there all night waiting.
hahahaha
I can just imagine you convincing them that it would be forever until it would erupt.
you know what i remember of that place? a bunch of injun jewlwery that turned your finger green and the smell of rotten eggs. i loved that big summer trip we took that one year.
especially the bike ride around the lake. that was awwwwwsome just sitting there and watching ken eat it on that one corner. and reaching into the bag and snacking the whole way through. ahhhhhh, that was the life. well, it still is the life actually.
thats right, you lazy piece of crap. you sat in that yellow tarp coverall that pulled for the 10 miles. ate all teh food too.
Hahaha.
I remember Ken crashing. Me and Ken were racing on that down hill stretch, and he couldn't slow down fast enough. He went off the road into that deep soft dirt and ate it.
Who else remembers that weird kid that Susan started talking to, and he was riding around with us. He was there with his foster family or something, had a bunch of problems. Susan probably remembers him better.
he wanted some action from suz. tall, bean pole if i remember correctly. I remember that bike ride like it was yesterday. I had a huffy and my front tire was pink and my back tire was black.
I remember you were like 30 feet infront of me and we passed a yellow sign which i didnt know what it said. Incidentally, it meant sharp corner and slow down. All of a sudden i was catching up and I was like "yeah, go faster ken" and then I passed you. The next thing i remember is like 90 degree turn with a huge dirt bank and, well, I didnt make it
